-===== Installations of high-tech art =====+====== What are the topics of SOTA hackathons? ======

-The main idea is to use high-tech products in a non-standard way.  Motorssensorscamerasdronessoftwarecell coloniesplantsvideo projectors and much more have resources to create objects of high-tech contemporary art.+The theme of each hackathon is a global socially important issue that is not a priority for the business world.
 +
+Informally, a global issue is any issue (problem, risk) that adversely affects the global community and environment, possibly in a catastrophic way, including environmental issues, political crisis, social issues and economic crisis.
 +
+Solutions to global issues generally require cooperation among local communities of activists and technologists at the global level on the basis of a distributed world network of creative spaces.

+====== What is the specialty of SOTA hackathons? ======
 +
+  * The use of advanced technologies for prototyping solutions to a wide range of problems.
 +  * Building a cross-age, cross-gender and cross-national community around hackathons.
+  * Presenting hackathons results online to disseminate the idea of high-tech and team-based problem solving.
+  * Creating an investment community or fund around hackathons to bring the best ideas and prototypes into the field.
 +
 +----
+====== Our framing criteria were: ======
 +
+  * **Low barrier to entry:** Attendees should be able to walk in, figure out what’s happening, and be able to quickly find a way to be involved (whatever their threshold for involvement).
 +
+  * **Pro-amateur and pro-expert:** Attractive to attendees of different technology skills (where “different” = skill diversity — Robotics and Coding! Analyzing and Painting!) and skill levels.
 +
+  * **Interactive — offline and online:** Everyone should have the opportunity to playbuildor otherwise contribute to one or more of the tech-related projects present (emphasis on everyone) without opening a laptop. (Not everyone would have a laptop with themnor are laptops perfectly suited for social engagement or essential for all types of tech.)
 +
+  * **Focused on “civic tech” in the broadest sense:** Any/all projectstoolsand tricks anchored in the social and political life of our neighbors. If nothing else, projects centered on improvingenjoying, and exploring the place we live would be something where 99% of attendees could find a piece of common ground.
